Nelson and Crane learn of the submarine Angler's tragic fate. As they go through the captain's log and listen to the recordings from the control room, they find themselves confused. Captain Williams, who had been a close friend of officer Richardson, inexplicably went mad and shot him. The strange turn of events seems to have started after their departure from an enigmatic island, where the two men transformed from allies into bitter foes.
