Episode Overview

Bill and Marie made the decision to retire in a bungalow that had once been a quaint cottage. However, over time, the home had undergone five poorly executed additions, prompting them to opt for a full renovation. They enlisted a contractor who promised to finish the work in three months, so they temporarily moved in with their daughter. As the renovation unfolded, they encountered problems with the historical board, building codes, and the contractor himself. After numerous delays and a ballooning budget, Bill cut ties with the contractor. A year later, they were left with an incomplete project and still living with their daughter. With no funds to hire another contractor, they were fortunate when Mike Holmes stepped in to tackle the challenging renovation. With his dedicated team, Mike navigated the longstanding issues and transformed their home into the beautiful retirement haven they had always envisioned.
