As Jennifer and Abraham prepared for the arrival of their first child, they decided to renovate their bungalow to accommodate their expanding family. Initially, their contractor appeared competent, but four months later, they discovered they had paid 90% of the contract while only 30% of the work was finished. With the contractor vanished, mounting construction expenses, a hefty new mortgage, and their house reduced to an empty shell, their dream of home ownership seemed shattered.
