Giles Nunn and Carrie Selhurst, an affluent couple seeking excitement and easy money, engage in highway robberies on desolate country roads, aided by Tommy Garret, a working-class youth whose father knows George Carter. Detective Regan soon catches onto their scheme, resulting in Carrie's arrest. However, her refusal to assist the investigation ultimately contributes to the tragic death of their next victim, escalating the stakes for everyone involved.
