A year later, the March family celebrates the arrival of Meg's twins, but Marmee and Jo grow increasingly worried about Beth, whose health and mood are deteriorating. Aunt Carrol visits and offers Jo the chance to travel across Europe with her daughter. However, disappointed by Jo's free-spirited nature, Aunt Carrol opts for the more polished Amy as her travel companion instead.
