The season's first live results show of "So You Think You Can Dance?" kicked off with a surreal group performance featuring judge Nigel Lythgoe, who found himself kidnapped, tied up, and left at center stage awaiting rescue from host Cat Deeley. Cat promptly reiterated the voting procedure, noting that the three couples with the fewest votes would face elimination by performing solos in their unique styles. Ultimately, the judges would choose one male and one female dancer to be sent home. Dan Karaty returned to join Lythgoe and Mary Murphy on the judging panel.
