Despite having a high fever, Ren is determined to attend school to secure a perfect attendance award, but her mother, Eileen, insists she stay home. Meanwhile, Louis attempts to feign illness to dodge Coach Tugnut's fitness test, but his father, Steve, sees right through it. Ren finds herself in bed cuddling Mr. Pookie, watching a musical when... Suddenly, Ren is at school, where she walks into the office to a delightful surprise—Principal Wexler is performing the "Morning Announcements" alongside a group of dancing students! Spotting Louis, Twitty, and Tawny in the hallway, she watches as Louis still seeks to avoid gym class, leading them in a lively rendition of "I Always Find a Way." At lunch, Ren meets Ruby and Nelson, who remind her of her science presentation due in 6th period.
