Peter Gunn is approached by a character called the Baron who seeks his help in safeguarding Rowena, the roommate of a slain carnival performer. Rowena happens to be the Baron's love interest, and as she starts to develop feelings for Gunn, the Baron issues a warning to the private investigator.
