Episode Overview
Title: Brenda's Final Date Plot: Pearl approaches Mary, suggesting that Lester should have a direct conversation with Calvin regarding intimacy. Meanwhile, Brenda asks her parents for permission to attend the dance on Friday, but they deem her too young at 14. After some convincing from Mary, Lester does speak with Calvin, threatening him with dire consequences if he harms Brenda. Alarmed, Calvin cancels their plans. Undeterred, Brenda devises a scheme, claiming she’ll visit the library while Calvin tells his grandmother he’s off to see Haley's Comet. When Mary discovers the truth, she goes to the dance and brings Brenda home, leading to a heartfelt discussion where Mary reassures Brenda that they will ease the restrictions a bit.
