Len and Linda eagerly welcome their first foster child, but he falls short of their hopes. Meanwhile, Rita, a fresh barmaid, proposes ambitious plans to enhance the pub, which rubs the local patrons the wrong way. Her time at the pub comes to an abrupt end when Tom discovers she has a rare heart condition.
