Episode Overview

After confronting a restaurant owner about the theft of Ponderosa beef, Ben and Adam find themselves embroiled in a tragic situation when the man is found dead one night. His daughter, Sally Byrnes, who manages the cafe, is consumed by resentment and wrongfully blames Ben and Adam for her father's murder, leading to their sentencing to hang. Meanwhile, a rancher named Hawkins, envious of the Cartwrights, has enlisted his men to prevent the town from aiding Ben and Adam, ensuring their grim fate. Hoss and Joe are eager to intervene, but Ben insists they must adhere to the law.
