Court lady An Huilan arrives with a peculiar plea, insisting she can hear the voice of a deceased consort echoing from the water. This voice supposedly belongs to Xi Wanlin, the Magpie Consort who tragically drowned in the lake on the day the emperor was meant to see her. Huilan urges Shouxue to rescue Wanlin, but Shouxue starts to sense that there’s a deeper, hidden truth behind Huilan’s tale.
