Episode Overview
Three years after the events of Day Two, a van drops off a corpse at the LA Health Unit, revealing a dangerous virus infection. Tony, now leading CTU, discovers that this is part of a blackmail scheme aimed at forcing the U.S. government to free drug lord Ramon Salazar, whom Jack has just apprehended. Salazar's brother threatens to unleash the virus in LA if their demands aren’t met. Meanwhile, Jack and his new partner, Chase Edmunds, are set to negotiate with Salazar in prison, where Salazar ominously warns Jack before killing his lawyer. Palmer, having survived and returned to LA for the first time since the attack, is gearing up for re-election and a crucial debate against a rival senator. He is supported by his brother, who is also his chief of staff, and his girlfriend, who serves as his doctor.
