As a scorching heat wave sweeps through Quahog, Peter convinces Brian to participate in a dog show for a chance to win $500 to buy a new air conditioner. After a disagreement about a failed trick, Brian storms out on the family, prompting Peter to adopt a cat as a replacement. Meanwhile, Brian fights for his rights and finds himself at the pound.
