Voyage of Darwin’s Beagle (2012)
Overview
"Voyage of Darwin’s Beagle" celebrates the 150th anniversary of "On The Origin of Species." Nearly 180 years after Charles Darwin's groundbreaking expedition, a diverse team of authors, artists, and scientists embarks on a similar journey. Led by journalist Lex Runderkamp and featuring biologists Dirk Draulans and Sarah Darwin—Darwin’s great-great-granddaughter—the crew includes artist Anthony Smith and writer Redmond O’Hanlon, along with various special guests relevant to each episode’s theme. Initiated by the Dutch-Flemish broadcaster VPRO, the eight-month adventure aboard the clipper Stad Amsterdam retraces the HMS Beagle’s historic route, starting from Plymouth on September 1, 2009.
