The Paper Chase (1978)
S01E05 Voices of Silence
Episode Overview
In a unique prison internship led by Prof. Rolf, first-year student Logan is tasked with assisting in the hearing of political activist Eric Ryerson, who is in solitary confinement for allegedly stabbing a fellow inmate. Ryerson persuades Logan that his isolation stems from his political beliefs, deeply affecting Logan’s emotions. Meanwhile, Kingsfield criticizes the internship program, claiming students lack the maturity for such experiences and that it detracts from their academic focus. As a consequence of his tardiness, Logan is relegated to the back of the classroom. Hart showcases his Spanish skills by interpreting for Sanchez, the stabbing victim, who initially denies Ryerson's involvement out of fear. Ultimately, it is revealed that Ryerson attacked Sanchez over a pair of coveted sunglasses.
