Longworth receives a shocking phone call from Daniel, informing him that Carlos has been found dead. Stunned and horrified, Longworth is confronted with the sight of Carlos's lifeless body. However, the real Carlos is very much alive and furious, having fallen victim to identity theft due to his daughter's online shopping habit. Longworth investigates the deceased's girlfriend, a doctoral student in social anthropology, who has a number of emotionally invested research subjects. As Longworth delves into her connections, he seeks to uncover the true murderer behind this tragic case.
