Kim's Convenience (2016)
Overview
Kim's Convenience offers a humorous yet poignant glimpse into the lives of a Korean-Canadian family managing a convenience store in downtown Toronto. Mr. Kim, affectionately known as 'Appa,' and his wife 'Umma' immigrated in the 1980s to establish their business near Regent Park. They raised two children, Jung and Janet, who are now navigating adulthood. A significant rift occurred years ago when a fierce argument between Appa and a teenage Jung led to a physical altercation and Jung's departure from home, leaving their relationship strained and unresolved ever since.
