Stan's biggest aspiration is to earn the rank of sergeant, but passing the sergeant's exam is just one of several hurdles he faces. He must also demonstrate his ability to see a case through from beginning to end. Tony tasks him with investigating drug dealer Terry Ross, a case he assumes will be straightforward for Stan. However, things take an unexpected turn when Stan develops feelings for Gail, Terry's estranged wife, leading him to believe that everything might work out after all.
