S01E01 Stayin' Alive in the '70s
Episode Overview
In the early 1970s, New York City is under the grip of a concealed network of crime and power, dominated by the five mafia families. While the bosses remain elusive and operate from the shadows, one man dares to disrupt the status quo: Joe Colombo. Unlike his counterparts, Colombo decides to confront the FBI head-on, leading to catastrophic consequences for the mob. Simultaneously, a new wave of FBI agents emerges, comprised of Italian-Americans familiar with organized crime. Among them is Joe Pistone, known as Donnie Brasco, who infiltrates a mafia family with unprecedented success. This marks the beginning of a pivotal shift for the mob, though its full impact remains unseen.
