Baines believes that portraying Diana and Tom as mentally unfit will grant him power of attorney, alleviating his troubles, especially given the home's financial woes. He sends them to psychiatrist Dr. Darrow, where they perform a carefully practiced act of bizarre behavior. However, the doctor ultimately determines that they aren't mentally ill, just a bit quirky, thanks to some unexpected support from Sarah.
