Episode Overview

After their first date, Jimmy, still with a black eye, asks Meg to join him on Bandstand. A recruiter from Notre Dame shows interest in JJ, but when he fails to attend, Jack steps in for his son. Meanwhile, Patty decides they need a new water heater and starts timing everyone's showers to prove her point. Beth struggles to connect with JJ, who pushes her away, while Jack ends up getting drunk with Tommy during the recruiter's visit. Helen confronts her doctor about birth control but later returns and finds the conversation more fruitful. During the big game, JJ pretends to be injured before executing a touchdown play that Jack had taught him, ultimately leading the team to victory.
