Episode Overview

John Hodges, known as The Cowboy for his signature cowboy hat and gun belt, arrives at the 4077th with a shoulder injury. He’s anxious about a letter he expects from his wife, Jean, fearing she may be leaving him for another man—“She probably ran off with some rodeo star; she loves those 10-gallon hats!” He desires to return home, but Colonel Henry Blake denies his request, deeming the injury too minor for a trip back to the States. Meanwhile, unfortunate events plague Henry, from being shot at during golf to a jeep demolishing his tent. The Cowboy proposes to fly Henry to Seoul, threatening to toss him out mid-flight! Ultimately, the long-awaited letter arrives, expressing love for him. Hawkeye and Trapper manage to persuade The Cowboy to land safely, saving Henry in the process.
