Episode Overview
After a brutal burglary at her in-laws' home, Alex unexpectedly encounters their son Peter, the 14-year-old who is destined to become Molly's father. Eager to support Molly's grandparents, Alex finds herself at odds with Gene, who is more interested in securing a major story to silence reports of police corruption and considers the case insignificant. When fingerprints from the scene point to George Staines, a notorious gangster believed to be dead, Gene senses an opportunity for a big break. Alex recalls hearing about the burglary and doubts she would forget a criminal as infamous as Staines. Meanwhile, Gene is resolute in his pursuit of the truth for the headline he's aiming for. In a surprising twist, Alex finally encounters the enigmatic man who has been sending her roses. He reveals that she can return home to her daughter, but his suggestion comes with a demand for her to engage in corruption.
