Caroline comes home to discover Richard, Julia, Trevor, Annie, Del, and Charlie all tied up and gagged—a chaotic scene orchestrated by a twisted marriage counselor, revealed through a series of flashbacks. Richard grapples with a crucial decision: should he stay or go? When Julia finally inherits her fortune, the Karinskys move into a luxurious penthouse and contemplate quitting their jobs. While Mrs. Karinsky swiftly leaves her bartending gig, Richard struggles to explain his sudden departure from Caroline. Concerned for their relationship, Julia hires a marriage counselor, who seems more focused on Richard's career than their personal lives. Meanwhile, Caroline proposes that she and Trevor should cohabitate. Garry Shandling makes a guest appearance as one of the counselor's other clients.
