The Deputy (1959)

Episode Overview

Simon Fry apprehends a "Drifter" accused of killing a man, taking his wife, and then shooting her. He initially plans to deliver the Drifter to a local jail, but as a lynch mob starts to form, he decides to move him to Silver City. Hot on their trail is landowner Akins and his gang, eager for revenge. Fran McCord, believing in the Drifter's innocence, convinces her brother Clay to assist Fry in getting the prisoner to a trial in Prescott. Before they can leave, Akins tricks the Drifter into trying to escape, but the attempt fails. On their way to Prescott, Fry and Clay thwart Akins' next scheme against the Drifter, after which Fry reveals key evidence of the Drifter's wrongdoing to Clay.
