Episode Overview
During the trial of notorious criminal Nick Hammer, Sophie faces intense humiliation on the witness stand as a tough defense attorney challenges her credibility. The case ultimately crumbles, leading to a fiery confrontation between Joe and lawyer Ray Jarvis outside the courtroom. Following this, Ray files a formal complaint against Joe, prompting an Internal Affairs investigation. Harriet refuses to lie to protect Joe, a decision that becomes crucial when Ray is later discovered beaten at home, accusing Joe on live television of being responsible. Although Joe admits he sought Ray out, claiming he was turned away, it’s now up to his fellow detectives to clear his name and revive their case against Nick Hammer.
