Episode Overview

Chaos erupts in the jungle after a rookie's blunder leads to the deaths of two soldiers who attempted to rescue him. Lt. Beller, who has seen more than his fair share of combat, finds himself leading a weary unit. He's an old friend of Goldman, and together they're tasked with tracking down an NVA regiment. Beller warns command that his men need a break to avoid a mental breakdown, but Brewster insists they must proceed. Everyone is glad to see Anderson back, except for the troubled Percell, who is spiraling and secretly using drugs. Anderson learns that Brewster has a Vietnamese wife and a child. On their mission, Percell, high on drugs, panics, leading Beller's unit to commit a horrific massacre reminiscent of My Lai, pushing Percell further into addiction and into the arms of heroin dealers.
