Daniel has turned her down, fearing that being with him would bring her a doomed fate. Additionally, the Shadows have given her a chilling vision of Penn's demise, prompting her to decipher its significance. When Luce and Daniel discover that Penn intends to leave in search of her father, Luce persuades her to stay for her own protection. However, Penn ultimately chooses to go back on her word.
