Episode Overview
Commodore Leon Crompton commands USN Task Force 10, tasked with eliminating Wolf Pack Laika, a group of eight German U-boats near the Azores. Under Gallagher’s leadership, the 918th acts as the Hunter division, while Crompton's ships serve as the striking force. Gallagher deploys nine B-17 bombers, and Crompton leads four destroyers and one escort carrier, with three flights on patrol. During their first mission, the bombers face enemy fire, resulting in two being shot down. On the subsequent mission, Gallagher loads bombs; the carrier is lost, but the bombers successfully target the subs. After being shot down, Gallagher is rescued by a destroyer, wounded and ultimately returns home aboard Crompton's new flagship.
