Norm takes a trip to the historic Old Schwamb Mill in Arlington, Massachusetts, established in 1860. The mill was acquired in 1864 by German woodworkers Charles and Frederick Schwamb, who thrived by producing stylish oval picture frames sought after for displaying Civil War soldier photographs. While exploring the Schwamb brothers' former office, Norm discovers an elegant quarter-sawn oak roll top desk that captures his imagination. Inspired by this classic piece of American furniture, he decides to embark on a project to create his own version. This episode marks the first part of a two-part series.
