The Detectives (1993)
S16E09 The Lowboy
Episode Overview
Lowboys, akin to the lower section of a traditional highboy, are often referred to as dressing tables. They typically feature two small drawers, one with intricate carvings, and a longer, slender drawer beneath the top. Norm discovers an early model of this timeless piece at the Concord Museum in Concord, MA. Inspired, he opts to enhance it with "Ball & Claw" legs sourced from a Vermont company that specializes in historic decorative furniture components. With these factory-made legs and a vision of a Chippendale Lowboy, Norm constructs his interpretation from solid cherry, intricately carving a unique shell design for the center drawer.
