Anyone who has recently shopped for plantation shutters knows they can be quite pricey, often running into the hundreds for each window. In an impressive display of creativity and resourcefulness, Norm decides to craft his own beautiful shutters in the workshop. True to form, he begins by constructing a series of jigs essential for drilling holes, setting staples, and mortising hinges. After shaping the basswood slats and mounting them on a control rod, he encloses the assembly in a poplar frame that he spray-paints. The finished interior shutters not only look fantastic but function smoothly when installed in the room he has been renovating.
