The Detectives (1993)
S19E13 Window Bench
Episode Overview
Gary Sullivan, an antique specialist and longtime acquaintance of The New Yankee Workshop, presents Norm with a vintage Window Bench believed to have originated in the early 1800s. Despite its worn upholstery, Gary insists that this "rare" piece, which he deems "museum quality," should remain untouched. "You’ll be lucky to encounter more than a few in your lifetime," he tells Norm. This unassuming bench features a cushioned seat with two curved arms resting on dark wooden legs, designed for enjoying a view by a window or providing seating at the foot of a bed. To revamp this classic style, Norm enlists the help of experts from Lee Industries, a prestigious furniture maker from North Carolina, resulting in a stunning and comfortable new version of the Window Bench.
