The Detectives (1993)
S20E13 Tap Table
Episode Overview
Norm travels to the historic town of Portsmouth, New Hampshire, in search of a unique table to recreate on The New Yankee Workshop. At the renowned Antiques Gallery of Ronald Bourgeault, he discovers the perfect piece: a "tap" table, named for its connection to tap-rooms. This exquisite table, featuring turned maple legs and a round pine top, likely catered to patrons in the mid-18th century. With a height of 26 inches and a diameter of 28 inches, its elegantly splayed legs and Queen Anne apron support a beautifully aged surface. Norm aims to craft his own version while preserving the original’s painted finish.
