Episode Overview
Elly has her heart set on getting a gorilla, while Jethro envisions it taking care of his chores. Jed decides to reach out to Mr. Drysdale for help in acquiring one. Instead, Mr. Drysdale sends a man dressed in a gorilla suit, hoping to frighten the Clampetts into abandoning their idea. However, when the guy shows up, things take an unexpected turn as Granny hops into the cage to tame the 'gorilla.' Elly names him "Herby," and Jethro quickly puts him to work. After completing tasks like chopping wood, Granny insists on having Herby help with the ironing. When Mr. Drysdale arrives, Herby (the man) ditches the suit and leaves, prompting Mr. Drysdale to put it on himself and head back to the bank. Ultimately, the Clampetts decide to visit the zoo and bring home a real gorilla.
