Granny receives a letter from Adeline Ashley, who is eager to come for a visit. Upon hearing this, Mrs. Drysdale becomes determined to host Adeline, hoping to appear in the social pages. When Adeline arrives unexpectedly, Granny seizes the opportunity to play matchmaker, hoping to pair her with Jed. Meanwhile, Mrs. Drysdale makes several attempts to connect with Adeline but only manages to meet her after an unfortunate tumble into the cement pond.
