Red hands Eric $40 to purchase a Christmas tree, allowing him to keep any leftover cash for his party. Eric, along with Hyde and Kelso, decides to cut down a tree from the interstate, pocketing the change to buy beer and a gift for Jackie. Meanwhile, Laurie enhances the punch with rum, leading to an unexpected attraction from Jackie's friends towards Fez. Just as Red returns home from work on Christmas Eve, the police arrive, informing him that his tree was obtained unlawfully and must be taken. Additionally, Hyde harbors feelings for Donna.
