In the finale of Part 1, Kimball helps the temporarily blind Mrs. Gerard reach a location where she can call her husband for assistance. Mrs. Gerard, curious like her spouse, bombards Kimball with inquiries about his life and background. As she connects the dots, it dawns on her that this man could be Richard Kimball. With a newfound awareness, she begins to devise a strategy to ensnare him.
