Episode Overview
As summer draws to a close, Lisa rallies her family for a trip to the Springfield Museum of Natural History. She’s eager to explore the Women’s History exhibit, but the display ends up focusing on weapons, much to the delight of Homer and Bart. When Flanders discovers an evolution exhibit alongside one that ridicules creationism, he raises a fuss. Reverend Lovejoy persuades Skinner to introduce creationism into the school curriculum. Standing firm in her belief in evolution, Lisa brings the issue to a town meeting, where the community votes to teach only creationism. Determined to promote evolution, she starts her own class, only to be arrested. The ACLU steps in with a lawyer to defend her against a polished Southern attorney, but it’s a family member who ultimately proves crucial to her case.
