Episode Overview

The starship Heart of Gold makes its way to the elusive planet Magrathea, which many believe to be a myth. As the crew attempts to land, they encounter a formidable ancient nuclear missile defense system. Just in time, Arthur activates the Infinite Improbability Drive, transforming the missiles into a bowl of petunias and a bewildered sperm whale, who contemplates existence before crashing down. Meanwhile, deep within the planet, an unseen adversary launches an attack on Trillian, Zaphod, and Ford. Arthur, on the other hand, meets Slartibartfast, an elderly planet designer, who invites him to explore the factory floor showcasing his latest creation—Planet Earth, Mark Two.
