Colombia has been the leading producer of cocaine for many years. In 2016, a landmark peace agreement aimed to decrease coca cultivation by providing farmers with alternative crops. However, recent estimates from the UN revealed that cocaine production reached its highest levels ever last year. Our World visited the Cauca Valley, where farmers are now facing dire challenges as they find themselves trapped between emerging criminal gangs, leading to severe repercussions for their communities.
