Tess is captivated by her newly discovered psychology theory, which focuses on the three levels of motivation. Using one of her mother's vintage psychology books, she believes that if she can uncover the underlying reasons for people's behaviors, everything will fall into place. However, no amount of psychological insight can clarify why Alex isn't as romantic as she'd hoped, why Becky and Jodi are constantly clashing, or why Loverboy—the bull Claire sells to Nick—keeps escaping from Nick's property and heading back to Drovers Run.
