Paralympic gold medalist Jonnie Peacock was named after his maternal grandfather, who passed away just before his birth. Like Jonnie, his grandfather was a talented athlete, excelling in amateur football and even attracting interest from a professional club. However, parental pressure forced him to abandon his sports career for a more conventional job as a painter and decorator. As Jonnie digs deeper into his family history, he discovers a legacy of hardship and illness that shaped their preference for job security over pursuing sports. On his father's side, Jonnie becomes intrigued by his four-times-great-grandmother, who was labeled a "bad character" by a village policeman in 1841. Yet, as he investigates further, he uncovers the story of a resilient woman who bravely stood up in court to testify against those who had wronged her.
