Alex struggles with feelings of resentment when his best friend, Doug, falls for Eleanor and chooses to marry her. He feels overshadowed by this new relationship and outright refuses to attend the wedding. Unable to cope with the reality of growing up and the changes happening in his life and those around him, Alex clings tenaciously to his carefree past.
