Episode Overview

On the second to last leg of his train adventure, Luke arrives in Hanoi, Vietnam’s bustling second-largest city along the Red River. A must-have on his visits is bun cha, a dish that gained fame when Barack Obama and Anthony Bourdain shared a meal of it in the city. With space limited in parts of Hanoi, Luke impressively prepares a stunning pho right on the Reunification Express railway tracks. He then hunts down bun dau mam, a peasant dish that has transformed over time to include luxurious ingredients like pork belly and crispy fried tofu. Finally, he heads to Hoan Kiem Lake, the vibrant heart of Hanoi, where he crafts a delightful dish of magenta sticky rice.
