Episode Overview
Nick visits the student health center due to tingling sensations in his buttocks, where the caveman doctor recommends he get more exercise. While there, he discovers that his CRP levels are elevated, but he’s reassured not to worry. However, after doing some online research, he becomes anxious about the possibility of leukocytosis. In a panic, he impersonates Joel to use his insurance and consults an HMO, who diagnoses him with appendicitis and schedules an appendectomy. Meanwhile, Joel and Kate face issues in their relationship; Kate is inventing ridiculous excuses to avoid intimacy, and with their three-month anniversary approaching, she’s likely to end things. When Joel’s boss learns about the surgery through the insurance company, he mistakenly believes it’s for Joel and grants him time off. When Kate arrives to break up with Joel, she finds out about the surgery and rushes to the hospital, but Joel, frustrated that she only cares now, decides to end things with her
