Mike Judge Presents: Tales From the Tour Bus (2017)
S01E06 Waylon Jennings Pt 1
Episode Overview
Renowned as the father of 'Outlaw' country music, Waylon Jennings was raised in Texas, dreaming of performing at the Grand Ole Opry. After a fateful collaboration with Buddy Holly led to his first brush with death, Waylon made his way to Nashville, where he shared an apartment with Johnny Cash. Like Johnny, he felt out of place within the traditional Nashville sound, though they both appreciated its brisk pace. A return to Texas and a reunion with his old friend Willie Nelson allowed Waylon to revitalize country music, enabling him to pursue his artistic vision on his own terms.
