As Mulder faces the impending loss of his mother and the relentless chase from the alien bounty hunter, he makes a desperate choice to place Jeremiah Smith, the alien healer, in jeopardy in hopes of revealing the full extent of the alien conspiracy. At the same time, the Syndicate grows suspicious of a potential traitor among them and devises a plan to catch the culprit.
