Episode Overview
The team investigates the case of a 14-year-old deaf boy named Seth, who fainted during a wrestling match after experiencing what he described as "hearing" explosions. When they attempt to evaluate him for seizures, Seth suddenly loses vision in one eye, throwing House’s theory of “Exploding Head Syndrome” into disarray. As Seth's condition deteriorates, the team clashes over the ethics of his mother’s firm refusal to allow cochlear implants to help him hear. When the chance to enable Seth to hear for the first time arises, House and his team must make a crucial decision. Meanwhile, House’s chronic insomnia begins to distort his perception, leading him to realize that it might actually be a hidden advantage.
